What is Sports Massage?
Sports Massage is very hands-on and incorporates a variety of techniques to help positively influence the body’s soft tissues such as muscle, tendon and fascia. It relieves problematic muscle tension, scar tissue and adhesions by breaking them down. This can improve function, mobility and provide pain relief. Due to the increased level of blood flow around the targeted area, sports massage can also help to speed up the healing process by increasing the availability of the correct nutrients to damaged tissues.
Sports Massage is a beneficial treatment for minor injuries such as a tweaked hamstring or stiff back, and as a regular programme of maintenance sessions to:
- Improve overall soft-tissue and joint health
- Enhance athletic performance
- Speed-up post-exercise recovery
- Improve conditioning
- Maintain peak performance, and possibly even prevent injury.
All our Sports Massage Therapists are at least Level 4 qualified, meaning they can work with minor injuries and possess a comprehensive skillset to include sports massage, advanced soft tissue techniques, stretching, taping and home care advice.
