What is Sports Nutrition?
Sports Nutrition is the study and practice of nutrition and diet for improving performance. It is vital in both endurance and strength sports even at an amateur level – fuelling ‘hobby’ runners or cyclists, or helping people lose fat/weight or increase muscle mass. A well prepared and executed nutrition programme deals with the consumption of both balanced macro nutrients to maximise energy and recovery, and micro nutrients such as minerals, supplements and organic substances to support the best health.
