Supporting Evie’s development – placement, practice, and progress

If you’ve visited the clinic over the past couple of years, you’ve likely met Evie. As our clinic assistant, she’s become an invaluable part of the team – welcoming clients, supporting the day-to-day running of the clinic, and keeping tasks flowing smoothly behind the scenes. Now, we’re excited to share that Evie is taking the next step in her professional journey as she completes part of her external placement hours with us as part of her Sports Therapy degree.

What Is Sports Therapy?

Sports Therapy is a practical, wide-reaching field focused on injury prevention, assessment, and rehabilitation. Through her degree, Evie is developing skills in injury assessment, rehabilitation planning, exercise prescription, soft-tissue techniques, and athlete support. She’s also building a strong understanding of anatomy, biomechanics, and how the body responds to training load and injury – knowledge that forms the foundation of effective recovery.

What will Evie be doing during her placement?

During her placement, Evie won’t be treating or assessing patients. Instead, she’ll be learning within a safe, supervised environment – observing rehabilitation sessions, understanding how treatment plans are structured, and gaining valuable insight into clinical reasoning and communication. It’s a chance for her to connect what she’s learning academically with the practical realities of how a busy clinic runs.

Experience on the pitch

Alongside her placement with us, Evie is gaining hands-on experience with Tring AFC, working pitchside during matches. Her role includes providing first aid, completing pre- and post-game checks, and offering taping and massage to help players prepare and recover. Match days bring a fast-paced, unpredictable environment, giving her real-world exposure to athlete care and immediate decision-making. She’s embraced the role with confidence and enthusiasm.

Looking ahead

By combining her university studies, pitchside responsibilities, and clinic placement, Evie is building the practical knowledge and professional confidence that will shape her future as a Sports Therapist. She’s already an integral part of our team, and this next phase reflects her dedication and passion for helping people move and feel better.
