Robert – shoulder injury

Robert visited the Hub in April complaining of pain on the top of his shoulder after being tackled awkwardly in a game of rugby the weekend before. Robert reached out to us for some help and guidance, and after a quick phone call with clinic director Georgie, he booked in for a full consultation our Lead Practitioner and Sports Therapist, Luke Denham.

Luke completed a thorough assessment of Robert’s shoulder, looking at his movement, strength followed by specialist testing to further understand what might have happened. This evaluation enabled him to understand the cause of the pain and advise on the best course of action to safely manage the injury and create a plan to get Robert back to rugby.

As a Sports Therapist, Luke combines an in-depth knowledge of the mechanisms of injury within sport, advanced assessment of movement, extensive hands-on skills and a thorough understanding of rehabilitation exercises, to allow him to accurately diagnose, treat and prescribed exercises that can help with all areas of recovery. Luke also calls on his own experiences of rugby and shoulder injuries, to understand how best to support and help Robert process his pain and get him back on the pitch.

Robert has started his rehab journey and attends clinic on a semi-regular basis to progress his exercises and receive hands-on treatment. He is consistent with his exercises and is improving every day. Whilst the AC-joint injury has ended his season, he is hopeful to return to his club for preseason training and is working hard to keep on top of his fitness in ways that his shoulder allows. We look forward to seeing Robert’s progress over the coming weeks and months!
