Jon – return to CrossFit performance
15 August 2025Jon, a dedicated CrossFit coach, came to the Hub with ongoing elbow pain that had started to interfere with his training and coaching. Over time, this developed into irritation of the long head of biceps tendon, a frustrating and stubborn issue for any athlete, especially one dealing with heavy overhead lifts and high-volume work.
Jon began working with Emily, our Sports Rehabilitator and Strength & Conditioning coach, to get on top of the problem. Through a thorough assessment and tailored plan, they focused on restoring strength, control and capacity through the shoulder and elbow.
Rehab included tempo-based pressing drills, isometric loading for the biceps, and progressive overhead work to rebuild confidence in key lifts. Specific training positions were broken down and rebuilt with structure and purpose, ensuring Jon could eventually return to snatches, handstand work and muscle-ups without symptoms.
Now, after months of consistency and careful progressions, Jon is almost fully back to baseline. He’s confidently snatching again, working on handstand walks, and feeling stronger than ever.
This has been a long process, but Jon stuck with it. His story shows the power of good rehab, smart training and the value of expert input along the way.
