Could Sports Therapy be the solution you have been looking for?

What is Sports Therapy?

Sports Therapy is concerned with both prevention of injury and patient rehabilitation, aiming to help a patient get back to optimum levels of fitness, regardless of age and ability. Sports Therapy can involve various methods of treatment including:

● Exercise therapy, including mobility and functional strengthening programmes
● Sports massage and advanced soft tissue techniques
● Joint mobilisations and manipulation
● Medical acupuncture
● Therapeutic ultrasound
● Strapping and kinesio-taping

Our Sports Therapists possess in-depth knowledge of the mechanisms behind injury – whether in sport or day-to-day life, and have extensive knowledge of musculoskeletal dysfunction and pathologies. Their treatment approach is very hands-on and covers a range of physical interventions, in addition to home exercise prescription and patient education and support.

Who is Sports Therapy for?

Sports Therapy really is for everyone!

We treat athletes, gym-goers, those who are new to fitness, and individuals who aren’t into any kind of sport or exercise at all.

Anyone suffering from injuries such as a bad back (perhaps from sitting at a desk all day), painful joints (maybe from not moving around enough), or more complex problems will benefit from the Sports Therapy approach.

What do our patients say about our Sports Therapy team?

Have a read below of what our patient Nick has to say about his rehab:

Luke Denham helped me to recover from some serious injuries (punctured lung; ribs, collarbone and shoulder blade smashed up) resulting from a crash in a cycling time trial at the end of May.

He did a careful assessment to determine what exercises were appropriate to regain mobility, range of movement, lung function and strength. Once the bones were sufficiently mended he also did some useful manual work on the soft tissue damage. This helped me to get back to training again after just a couple of months. After less than four months I was delighted to pin a number on my back and make my racing comeback at a local club time trial yesterday morning.

The physical improvement will continue and I have some good pointers from Luke on how to consolidate the progress made already. His careful explanations of how my recovery would proceed and the purpose of his treatments were excellent. They have helped me to understand what’s happening and given me confidence to get back on the saddle and ramp up the training in a careful stepwise way.

To be honest I hope I don’t need Luke and the Rehab Hub again for any injury rehab! But I will have no hesitation in getting help there again.
